Designated Hitter for National League?

I mentioned in another thread about two years ago that my nephew had been drafted by the Brewers in the 20th round (6'3", 195lb, RHP). I saw him at Christmas and its his opinion that the National League will have designated hitters within the next two years. Has any body on this board heard anything to that effect?

It'll be about damned time. Pitchers don't know how to hit, for the most part, and all of the so-called "strategy" we see is used in the AL as well.

And it wouldn't hurt to see my Cardinals have both Nolan Gorman and Elehuris Montero hit in the same batting order.

Designated hitters prevent injuries to pitchers while batting. Don't you wish that Wainwright or Kershaw or whomever was injured during an at-bat wouldn't have gotten injured? That's another reason why I want the DH: not only is it boring to see pitchers flail away at and poorly bunt pitches, but it gets pitchers injured as well.

You're going to have to deal with it. It's not an "if" there's going to be a DH in the National League; it's a "when". And the game will survive it, as it's always done.

The game of baseball will not die out with the addition of a DH in the National League. It survived much worse: the Black Sox scandal, Pete Rose betting, the steroids era, etc. It will not die out because of something like the DH in the National League.

It's not true baseball. Might as well eliminate pitchers completely by adopting the batting tee.

There's a difference between a DH and a batting tee. Pitchers can thrive in the AL; what's to stop them from thriving in the NL with a DH?

I like the uniqueness in baseball with the two leagues having different rules. I'm fine as it is but would consider adopting a different rule for the NL moving forward if there's any disparity between the two.

The AL may have better hitting stats but both leagues are still competitive against each other; also factor in AL teams playing in NL stadiums potentially having a home field disadvantage and NL teams with good hitters taking advantage of the DH rule on the road.

The dance is whether people like the DH or not. This thread is about when the NL adapts it.
Key is when, because it will happen. I give it 2 more years

I remember hearing something about a new rule which will require pitchers to pitch to a min. of 3 batters, or to the end of an inning, in an effort to speed up the game. With the addition of a DH in the NL ,managers strategies will certainly change yet again, and might make the game even longer
