I’m just wondering why no one is talking about Darious Williams. To me he did a fantastic job when Troy Hill was injured. To me I think he might be first in line for the slot CB.

Williams has been mentioned quite a few times when discussing back up CB’s and especially in threads speculating on Troy Hill being traded and or threads regarding Snead’s acumen finding late round, cast-off, or UDFAs.

I for one have been very positive on my post on CB Darious Williams he is versatile enough to play either outside position, Nickle & the dime if needed. In college DW played one season @ D-III Marietta College in Ohio then went onto UAB where he was a walk-on for 2 seasons then went UDFA.
In DW's pro day workout in 2018 he ran a 4.44 in his 2nd 40 yd dash & a 39 inch vertical

Last season DW started the last 3 gms. & in those 3 gms he had 9 tacks & 2 INTs. I also believe DW is one of the reasons Snead did not select an outside corner in the 2020 draft.
The one major negative element on DW is that he is only 5-9 180 lbs. Which makes you think he would be best @ the Nickle.....not so IMO. DW will give Troy Hill & David Long a great fight over the outside corner post opposite Ramsey. I am sure that Brandon Staley will love him.

Who really knows what will happen for sure,but D. Williams was impressive to finish the season
Should have been 3 INT’s. He had one called back due to penalty vs Dallas while matched up on Tavon. He has awareness and plays the ball really well.
I just see him as a outside corner he plays the ball extremely well great speed and technique he might not be tall but he is long and rangy. And honestly I think Troy Hill would be better in the slot closer to the line of scrimmage.
I personally think Troy Hill is going to be the outside CB & Williams is to good not to be on the field.. David Long is next CB up after that.
Huge fan of Williams. He's small for a boundary corner, but you simply can't teach the instincts he has. He, Hill, and Long will have a real battle for the two cornerback slots.
Damn, forgot about Burgess in the big nickel. Yeah, our secondary is absolutely stacked - and that's not even mentioning JJ3 and Rapp.
Taylor was raw but a tough kid with a lot of upside. This Utah kid is going to fight for playing time. JJ was a top safety. Having The Jag CB as the Leader will make a Big Difference.Add D.Long getting another year of experience just helps the upside even more.
What hasn't been said? He was a great surprise late in the season. Another great UDFA.

What I liked most about Williams was that he was never picked on. Qb’s hardly threw his way. Which means his coverage skills was outstanding. The game against the 49ers they only really completed 2 passes downfield both on 3rd and 16. But all of Garoppolo passes was to Kittle and quick Wr screens to Samuel. Our secondary was on point in that game except for that last 3rd and 16.
