Bucky
I thought that Bernies interview was outstanding
Bernie set the agenda, focused mainly on perceived problems so he didn't talk a lot about QB, RB or DL.
Offensive LIne
Coach said that Wells will be fine. They may back off on him at times but he is a key ingredient in keeping Sam clean. They communicate very well together on blocking assignments. Saffold is a great athlete, no problem. Smith is a good player dealing with concussion issues. Noted that Richardson has had many starts at tackle. Dahl can play offensive guard or tackle. Watkins has made tremendous gains during the OTA's. Very strong, a people mover. Coach said you can help the tackles with a TE. getting a RB to chip, running the ball more and by running play action. You do whatever is necessary.
Wide receiver
Coach said this was the most improved group since OTA's began. Mentioned Pettis and Salas as showing great improvement in their second year. Said Smith will be a big addition. Talked about the raw ability of Quick and Givens. Never mentioned Amendola, Gibson or DX. Said the odd men out will end up on another roster and that is a measure of their talent.
Coach also mentioned Kendricks having a lot of ability to stretch the field. Said Hooman has been cleared and will be brought in with the rookies. Said Mulligan is a big addition, another blocker and people mover.
Cornerback
Coach said that CB is the second most improved area on the team. Mentioned Finnegan, Jenkins, Johnson, Fletch and Gordy. He promised that teams will be calling the Rams trying to trade for one of these guys.
Safety
Coach said that the Rams have enough talent at safety but can't afford any injuries. Mentioned Mikell first, called Stewart "Scott" but said he was improved. Noted Dahl's presence and said good things about Daniels from his career at Duke.
Linebacker
Fisher said that JL has a good understanding of the defense. Dunbar will play WLB and likely stay in the game in the nickel. Haggan was very impressive. Showed up at 265 but moved like a 220 lb guy.
D-Coordinator
Fisher said he knows who will be calling the defenses on gameday but chose not to name him yet. Said that is not a difficult chore. The real important decisions are making up the game plan.
Offensive staff
He said he has been very impressed by the offensive coaches though he has worked only with Sherman in the past. He said Schottenheimer and Cignetti are getting along really well with Sam. Noted that Sam has advanced far enough that he is asking them for explanations of what they are doing.
Special teams
Coach also said he has no concerns about the rookie punter and kicker though the punter will be the holder and missed most of the OTA's due to Oregon State's semester system. He said these are solid football players, not quirky kickers
