Rams linebacker Clay Matthews will miss a month after breaking his jaw Thursday night.
Rams coach Sean McVay announced Friday afternoon, via Lindsey Thiry of ESPN, that Matthews will undergo surgery.

McVay said the team believes Seahawks running back Chris Carson inadvertently kicked Matthews in the face.

It appears on video the injury occurred on Carson’s 6-yard run on third-and-goal from the 11-yard line in the fourth quarter when Matthews dove at Carson’s legs.
Matthews played 47 of 74 defensive snaps and made five tackles and a sack.

I flat out missed this happening in game! Anyone know what play he was injured on?

The Rams are deep at guys who can catch and run. They have Wester, Reynolds and they can also play 12 personnel with two TE's who can catch and it protects the o-line at the same time. So they can play Woods, Kupp, Everett and Higbee.....with Reynolds and Webster in rotation. Sounds fine to me.

Mathews out but I loved what I saw of Ogbo in preseason. He's like Ebukam in that he's relentless too. The Rams are deep with talent waiting to step in.

Go back and watch who he beat and how Mathews got those sacks. AD and Brockers got all the attention so Mathews was basically one on one with maybe a TE or OT. All Mathew's sacks were set up by the interior rush. Ogbo and Ebukam will be fine.

This probably opens up Patrick & Obo for snaps. Patrick's usually up for teams so I think both will get some looks.

Shame though for Clay. He's been playing well wanted to see him hit double digit sacks.
