Clay's usually the SAM, right? They'll mix it up but wouldn't the base be Donald/Fowler and Oko/Matthews?
Normally Fowler will be seen to the left of Brockers & Ebukam/Matthews to the right of Donald as they attack the OL. But as we know it will change from snap to snap as do the defenders in Wade's lineup.

In Wade's 2-4-5 line up...once again normally but not always Fowler will line up to Brockers left where Ebukam will be to Donald right

This is why I didn't favor Matthew's. He has played well but he's injury prone now. Nothing against him...it's just the nature of the beast.
Clay was never injury-prone with Geen Bay.

I could see Matthews being somewhat eased in on the edge with ‘reduced’ snaps until he’s truly back to 100% game speed.

Besides, I think the Rams want to see snaps at edge for some youngsters to better determine whether they might have a potential Fowler replacement already on the roster. Could have a huge impact on their ‘20 FA and draft strategy.

I could also see Matthews getting some of the Reeder snaps inside. For reasons that seem obvious.

I have to admit you're pretty much correct for the most part. As I looked back on it perhaps it's because the times that I saw Green Bay playing, Matthews was out for injury...and that gave me an erroneous opinion. Of his last 4 seasons with GB he went 16, 12, 14, and 16 in games started, so that's not bad.

I never doubted his ability though, he's been a very good player.
