You have been given the power to change 5 plays in Rams' history.

The only limitation is that you cannot change more than 1 play from any one game.

Mine:

1. Super Bowl XIV: Nolan Cromwell doesn't drop the pick-6 opportunity in the second half.

2. Wild Card Game (2000): Az Hakim doesn't muff the punt in the fourth quarter.

3. Super Bowl XXXVI: Kurt Warner doesn't throw pick-6 to Ty Law.

4. Divisional Round (2004): Wilkins makes 53 yard FG in OT.

5. Super Bowl LIII: Jared Goff connects with Brandin Cooks for game tying TD in fourth quarter.

While only one of those (No. 4) automatically changes the outcome, I'll take my chances with the other four.

What are your 5 plays?

I like your plays but I have another 5 to throw out there

1) Ferragamo doesn't throw interception to Jack Lambert in 1980 Superbowl
2) Dieter Brock completes throw to Ron Brown on a slant against Chicago Bears(1985 playoff game)
3) Everett doesn't underthrow bomb that gets knocked away at last second against 49ers by Ronnie Lott (1989 playoff game)
4) Tom Mack is not called for Illegal Procedure in 1976 playoff game against Vikings (i think it was that year)
5) Dickerson gets ball instead of other running back in 1984 playoff game

I still have a bruise in my soul from the Steve Smith OT TD catch and run.

Once I fully wake up I am sure more traumatic memories will surface.

It’s funny how the memory works. When I started making my list, I was thinking Smith’s TD happened on the first drive in OT. Only after looking up the play-by-play did I recall that both teams had a failed FG attempt in OT.

Yea just looked it up and realized it was double OT. The suspense and misery of that game!

I’m currently living for the 2024 season, and not even living for today. So there’s no possible way for me to think about the past.

It was 1974 and the other RB was FB Dwayne Crutchfield.

1969. Bob Brown doesn't get called for a clip by an officiating crew that was dead set on helping the Minute Scrotum Biqueens come back from a 17-7 halftime deficit in the 1969 NFL Western Conference championship game, a penalty that killed a drive deep in queens territory.

1973 Eddie McMillian and Steve Preece don't botch the coverage on Drew Pearson when Dallas is clinging to a one point lead after the RAMS overcame a 17-0 deficit and had Staubach and company in 3rd and long in their own territory when the aforementioned DBs blew it in the 1973 NFC divisional playoff.

1976 NFCCG Bobby Bryant doesn't appear out of nowhere and intercept a Pat Haden pass about to land in a streaking Ron Jessie's hands for the go-ahead TD late in the 4th quarter.

1980 SB XIV Rod Perry leaps two inches higher and knocks away the pass to Stallworth that went for the go-ahead TD.

2001 SBXXXVI Tom Brady is rightfully assessed an intentional grounding penalty on the final drive when London Fletcher blitzes up the middle and has a bee line to pussy boy.

Interesting thought… If the play that resulted in the “tuck rule” goes the Raiders’ way, does it change Rams history?

Okay I will only go with 2 one a play and one a move.

  1. 1973 week 6 against the Packers John Hadl does not injure his back leading to him not being as effective for a team that had all the elements of a Super Bowl Champion.
  2. 1978 Carroll Rosenbloom follows his gut and hires Bill Walsh as Head Football Coach to succeed Chuck Knox.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned.
Sam Bradford doesn't get shoved out of bounds and blows out his knee on a late hit by that dirty Panther player.
That would have changed things for sure. If he doesn't get it hurt once, he doesn't reinjure it the 2nd time and eventually retire early because of knee problems.

- Vermeil doesn't retire after 1999
- Tom Mack isn't called for the phantom illegal motion penalty in the 1974 NFC championship
- The Rams aren't assessed a phantom holding call on Gurley's one good run in SB LIII against the Pats
- Fisher hires a good OC and keeps his hands off
- A Pats defender (can't remember who) is rightfully assessed a helmet-to-helmet in SB XVI, nullifying the Ty Law pick six.
