Tree fiddy.

I get a speeding ticket once or twice a year and almost always beat them in court. I just can't drive the speed limit. I know it's dangerous, but I don't weave in and out of traffic like a dick. I just like to take advantage of huge open stretches of highway.

$350 hurts but it could be worse. Non-monetary stuff.

Nah... I'm with you. I'm the same way. I will say, I usually try and keep it below 20 over the limit tho.

IMO Speed limits infringe on natural rights and drivers shouldn't be pulled over on the basis of speeding. That's a whole other conversation tho. :cheese:

I know the feeling for speeding, but I've been lucky, haven't gotten a ticket since I first turned 18.

When I am in FLA I dont do over 80.

A few years ago while driving down was just coming out of a rest stop on 75 after wifey and I switched chairs. Driving along on Cruise Control set just under 80 and a crotch rocket goes flying by me like I was standing still. Dont know what happened after that but saw the dude tossed in the air like a rag doll and bike was flipping sideways thru the air !! Wifey and I pulled over and and ran back to the scene and the guy was sitting on the guard rail lighting a smoke. Said he was fine but his brother was going to be pissed because he borrowed his bike while brother was at work !!!!

32 over... I believe a cop can give you a careless or even a reckless driving charge for 30+ over. Maybe you got off lite.

Then again, down in your neck of the woods 30 over is almost expected I guess. I'm always amazed at how much faster everyone drives down in Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties.

What I've never understood is how people can drive 10 miles under the speed limit on the freeway--in normal conditions--and not get ticketed. These are the people who create rush hour traffic.

Just curious, What do you generally say to beat in court?

Not a thing. I first plead not guilty and get a court date. Then I wait to see if the cop shows up for said court date. If I see him in the gallery, I'll sneak out and quickly reschedule with the clerk of courts via cell phone and say that I had a family emergency. I can do that up to two more times before it's an automatic fine. So in 3 attempts, I try to get the cop to not show up for court. If he doesn't, then the ticket gets thrown out. At least 3 times I've had the cop not show up for court on the first attempt. Twice I had to reschedule once, and a couple of times I've had to reschedule twice. Only one time did the cop KEEP showing up for the court date and I had to plead my case. That one resulted in a "withhold adjudication", no points, court costs and driving school (which I did online).

I don't mind wasting my time so long as I can keep wasting theirs. :p

Was that self taught or did you learn that from a "Hangover " type movie?

Self taught after the first time. Cop didn't show up so the case was dismissed. I guess you're supposed to be able to face your accuser. Woot.

Speeding can be very easy to do in a location where there aren't many cars on the road or the highway, so I understand how you feel.

If you drive a convertible, I can imagine how that breeze feels against your head going 97.

30 over here can get you cuffed and hauled in for public endangerment but doesn't usually unless you feel the need to be a smart ass to the officer.

I agree. I've always thought slow drivers more often cause unsafe conditions on highways than speeders do so one day on the way to work on I-75, I decided to drive the minimum posted speed, 45 mph. Holy shyte! That is dangerous as hell. Even in the far right hand lane, the closing rate is much worse because most people go at least 75 mph and are not expecting such a slow vehicle. At least those going 90 mph in the far left lane are usually encountering cars going closer to 80 mph. But the real people that cause traffic jams are the yahoos going 70mph in the far left lane and then the people that try to advance in the two right lanes when the left lane is already bumper to bumper going 80mph.

Works for traffic court. Just don't try that one on a trespass case. Long story but the cop didn't show the first two times and the judge kept it open until the third time the cop didn't show.

But over thirty over? You better hope that cop doesn't show. In Oregon, they ALWAYS show :amped:
