Bad news for the St. Louis Rams as an MRI revealed that rookie defensive tackle Michael Brockers has a high ankle sprain, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Brockers, the Rams' first-round draft pick, injured his right ankle in the first quarter of Thursday's 31-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Though the Rams have not announced a timeframe for how much time Brockers will miss, high ankle sprains typically sideline players for anywhere from four to six weeks. If that is the case, the injury would keep the rookie out of games against the Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and possibly the Arizona Cardinals.
This offseason, the Rams revamped the interior of their defensive line and Brockers was expected to start next to free agent addition Kendall Langford. With the Rams placing Trevor Laws on injured reserve, they now have little depth at defensive tackle and could address that via trade, free agency or the waiver wire before preparations begin for next Sunday's season opener against the Lions.
