He would make the most difficult catches but drop the easiest passes.

They used to call me Billy Waddy because I would do that too.

I always responded - well make it a difficult catch then

RIP Billy

Everyone remembers Bruce 73 yarder, Flipper's walk off and Proehl's game winner but when asked about favorite playoff memories, this one seems to slip minds but always stays on top of mine.
RIP the Og #80

Sad to hear about this. His winning TD at Dallas in the 1979 playoffs is one of those iconic plays that old-time fans never forget about.

RIP, Billy.

Maybe it's the years but I seem to recall hearing at one point that Ferragamo had called that on his own? Or am I misremembering?

I mean, I was just a 14 yr old kid at the time.

I was 12 :)
Its funny how I cant remember what I ate for breakfast this morning but I can remember some things from 40 years ago.
Used to get together with my dad's family for playoff games when I was a kid, my cousin who is my age was (and still is) a huge Cowboys fan. My dad and Uncle were huge Giant fans who still loved Staubach because of the whole Navy/Roger the Dodger stuff. So there I am, in the family den getting abused about how the Cowboys destroyed us last year, Staubach is the comeback king blah blah blah. So when that play happened? I'll never forget it. Can recall the smell of the room even

I think that catch was my favorite, because it was so unlikely to beat the Cowboys that season. I was on cloud 9, and can still remember it taking days to come down.

Almost like the Whiners this season, the playoff success was above expectations...

Yeah I was 17 and went to play tackle football with my friends when we were down. I thought we were going to lose for sure. But someone brought a radio and when we heard the Waddy play, we stopped the game and listened to the rest of the game.

Highlights from the game for those who don't remember or otherwise missed it (READ: are so damn young you weren't even a glimmer in daddy's eye).

Ugh. Gut punch news. He was a huge fan favorite here back in the day.

RIP and sincere condolences to his family.

Now we win this for Waddy
