It's weird to someone who remembers the Rams under Georgia. But under Carrol Rosenbloom and his son's leadership the Rams were a well run organization.

Georgia changed all that shortly thereafter ('79).

We would have 3-4 more superbowls by now if Walsh coached our team.

Wait, Georgia took over in '79? I thought she took over in 83ish?

And did Rosenbloom not have a will left to his son? This seems ludacris!

Why do you think we were so pissed off in L.A., Carrol married a Vegas showgirl and she got the works.

CHRONOLOGY OF RAMS MOVE FROM LOS ANGELES TO ANAHEIM
AUG. 4, 1988

12 AM
July 25, 1978--Los Angeles Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom says the football team will move from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to Anaheim Stadium in 1980.

July 26, 1978--The Rams’ move to Anaheim is tied to an agreement calling for developing 95 acres of stadium parking into a $200-million business complex, including high-rise offices and a parking garage.

Sept. 25, 1978--After marathon talks, Anaheim persuades the Rams to accept 90 acres of parking lot development instead of 95.

Aug. 14, 1981--To resolve environmental and traffic concerns, plans for the office and parking complex are reduced from about 12 buildings to four, and from 2.8 million square feet to 1.9 million square feet.

Aug. 8, 1983--The California Angels baseball team, the stadium’s other main tenant, files a $100-million lawsuit against the city, the Rams and a Boston developer, seeking to block a high-rise development.

Dec. 9, 1985--A non-jury trial begins before Superior Court Judge Frank D. Domenichini.

April 28, 1986--A poll commissioned by Angels officials shows that 61% of the Anaheim residents questioned support the ballclub in its suit against the city.

June 14, 1988--Domenichini issues a permanent injunction barring development without the Angels’ advance approval, effectively prohibiting the construction of high-rises on all but 20 acres of the lot.

June 14, 1988--Legal fees stemming from the dispute have cost the city $5 million to $7 million.

Aug. 2, 1988--Irving Azoff, a Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum official, reveals that Rams Vice President John Shaw has requested talks regarding a possible Rams return to the Coliseum.

Georgia was all about the money, ... her next move was to sell out to St.Louis in 1994.

Not only did she fire his son by previous marriage who was team president, but she also basically dismantled the football operation by installing Shaw. Good example of how good the Rams' front office was back then they had names like Tex Schramm and Pete Rozelle on payroll.

Here's a nice article on all that: https://www.lamag.com/longform/1970s-l-rams-dramatic-decade/

That’s interesting as hell! Amazing! I never knew there was so much into everything even back then. I still don’t get how she fired everybody. Rosenbloom didn’t have a will? That’s so crazy.. I wasn’t sad to see her pass. Some might consider that harsh but IDGAF!

i bet you guys couldn’t wait until the process played out to a legitimate owner!!

Just saw this posted elsewhere, I’d never seen it before. Bill Walsh in 1978, then the Stanford HC, speaking in glowing terms about the Rams organization? And implying he gladly would be their coach if offered the opportunity?

Weird....

yep. My understanding was he would have taken the head coaching job with the Rams. I think the Rams interviewed him, just passed on him.

He had a will, giving 70% of the team to Georgia and 30% to his son Steve, but there was also the expectation that Steve would be allowed to continue running the team. Georgia immediately violated Carroll's wishes and fired her son-in-law. The rest is history.

.

the problem when your dick makes decisions instead of your head. what does some bimbo know about running a nfl team? she was drawn to money and nothing else.

he should have seen this coming and left 51% of the team to his son.

.

Would have loved to see Ferragamo in that offense. Woulda been alot like Farve. Take the short stuff until you can sling it downfield, always liked the Gunslinger in Ferragamo.
