Not sure if you guys watch Brian Baldinger's film studies every week, but they're pretty great. He looked at some of our miscues from last game and yea the 49ers front is elite, but man our o-line needs to be a lot better. I hope Edwards comes in and makes a difference this week, but it will take more than him to get it fixed. Because our line is currently total SHIT, we couldn't get one damn yard when we needed it. Corbett needs to get up to speed quickly too and make an impact , would be great if he found his way into the game this week. If we never see Demby in game again I'll be a happy man. But really we should try to get Cordy Glenn somehow, that would be huge. The pressure explains some of Goff's off-target throws but my god some of his reads, or not going through his progressions is alarming.

Not to absolve Goff, but now I see why that pass to Everett didn't go for six Everett slowed down out of his break, almost like he thought Sherman was breaking the route behind him. That throw would have been perfect if Everette stayed in stride. It's the little things.

I guess in a way this shows the Rams were closer than it seemed.

Yea even on the running plays that were blown up, one block makes all the difference. We just need to get running the ball consistently again and everything should fall back into place. Have to fix the o line in order to do so though.

Perhaps but after the first drive by the 49ers and the Rams - the 49ers clearly controlled the game.

At 7-7 with the Rams getting stopped at the one-yard line two times before the half the Rams could have taken a lead. Then the fumble on the first play of the second half giving the Whiners a short field for a TD. Rams clearly helped give the Whiners control of the game.

No doubt the Rams need to fix the offensive line. Getting Gurley back will help the on short yardage runs and blocking. I like the Gurley with Henderson combo.

As you said - not to absolve Goff but that was probably Goffs best pass all game. That would have been a perfect throw if Everett kept going.

I agree - if Henderson holds onto that ball, I think that game might have changed. If he gets by one 49er being blocked by Reynolds - he is gone. However, Reynolds didn't hold his block that long so I am not sure Henderson would have gotten by him. On the other hand, seeing that opening might have gotten Hendersons eyes so big that he took his eye off the ball to see the best route to take on his run.

Goff just locks on to his primary read way too much. So many missed opportunities. I was watching Rodgers play on Monday night and Im like blown away. Hes throwing to no name scrub WRs on the money. 2nd and 3rd reads. Goffs brain is sensing pressure when there is still more time to throw. Yes the Oline is bad but he has to scan the field better. If he completes a few of those bad reads then the defense wont be as eager to bring pressure every single play. That game was much closer than it seemed. We shot ourselves in the foot way too much.

I'm not going to claim that officials caused our loss. Littleton dropped a pick six for example.

But Jimmy Grabmypole didn't score on the goal line any more than Malcom Brown didn't.

That said, Henderson was running wild. Why take him out and insert Malcom Brown near the goal line?

I like the Gurley with Henderson combo.

The fumble was bad and he'll learn from that but he looked amazing on a few of his runs. Extremely explosive, made a few guys miss, and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. So that should give him confidence he can get it done at this level, especially because our line can only improve right?

The difference in this game was Todd Gurley was not in and Noteboom replaced by Demby.

But mainly Gurley. Gurley punches it in at the goaline. He has the power and burst to do it and its why we always run the ball at the goaline. He is a goaline dog. He also gets those tough 3rd and 1's.

Then the fumble by Henderson. First game rookie mistake, what can you say, bad timing for us.

If you can't convert your short yardage runs then things go south real quick. It's a very underated part of the Rams offense and Gurleys game that we take for granted.

Goff is not seeing the open man. Locking on to a target is not good. Those couple of plays change the game. Goff is getting battered yes, but the best QBs make the best night decisions regardless. A few here refer to Goff as elite. He's good but I can't go that far.
There are a myriad of things that are happening. One, Goff has more responsibilities on offense; he's being forced to process faster. Two, the offensive line now can't be trusted; so he's reading faster and not allowing plays to develop. His clock is all over the place now. Add the fact Sean's offense is designed to throw for than just five yards at a time allowing for YAC scenarios; and now we are looking at a disaster.

I love the guy, never thought he was elite but I believe he has the capability. Right now, this whole forum wants Goff to be better, including myself. But where the difference is, some know it isn't all on him to right this ship. If his offensive line wasn't the second worst in the NFL; I guarantee you'd see better results. But now Goff, a pocket quarterback is being asked to do what Russell Wilson does; make beef stew out of lemons. (A miracle)

I wanted a quarterback, I got one. I don't want a game manager. You can win a superbowl with one, but they have to be practically infallible. Right now, we are depending on this constant pressure to make Goff into a diamond. If we are going to complete that process, we have to let him develop in this situation he's in. Because Bortles is not the answer. And for anyone thinks Bortles is a good idea; thank you for just joining us watching the NFL. We've been watching a lot longer, and know exactly what he's capable of. Behind this Offensive line; he will be ten times worse.

Well he is Aaron Rodgers, who instead of getting picked apart at Goffs age, was still riding pine behind Favre.

Goff still struggles when everybody else does. He isn't Mahomes or Rodgers but he is a good young QB who really needs a dump off security blanket this season but the Gurley issues have made that difficult.

This. Sean NEEDS to build in more quick outlet throws that have YAC ability. The Patriots have been racking up Super Bowls off of mostly 5-7 yard throws. Should be throwing to RBs at least 10 times a game IMO.

Coach has some of us perplexed. I don't understand his inability to adjust his offensive/scheme to better compensate for the lousy O-Line blocking.

I realize it's easier said than done from sitting in front of our living room TV's but he's seen plenty of film now to know the 5-7 step drops and play action long developing routes are not going to work like they did the last 2 seasons.

No running game is a big part of the failures but Sean is too smart not to have a plan B and C intact for pregame preparations and in game adjustments.

The hurry up offense seems to mostly be used in the 2 minute or desperate playing from behind situations. The 3 step drops and shotgun quick passing routes don't appear to be used enough or executed very well.

The O-Line is the weak link but coach has 6 games of film now to make changes in his game planning to be better prepared.

Against the Falcons I'm keying on McVay's first half game adjustments based on how good or bad his O-Line his playing.

He always says it's his responsibility to put his players in better situations based on the flow of the game and down and distance situational football.

I know you're handicapped by the O-Line coach, but you know the pulse of this 2019 offense very well at this junction of the season.

Time to be a real doctor in the emergency room. When surgery isn't going as planned after the first few drives, you have enough experience to be prepared for it . We have faith in you.
