Drinking with my buddies yesterday, and one of em mentioned he was thinking about selling his 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Someone else chimed in and said he got $1000 more than what he paid for his jeep.

So Thumbs ( his nickname) went on the Carvana website and entered his info and got on offer of 21,200 for his jeep that he paid 23,500 for 5 years ago !!!

So being hungover and bored today I figured I would see what me truck is worth.

2014 Ford F150 STX.. 61K miles..paid 25,600 for it just over 3 years ago...Carvana offered me 20,800 !!!

thinking of pulling the trigger on it .. have a week before the offer expires

Has anyone here ever used Carvana, and if so, how was the experience?

My son used it to sell his GTI. He might have been able to get a bit more selling to a private party but Carvana offered him I believe 3k more than any other dealer and then transferred the offer to Reno from Tucson so he could drive here first before he went overseas.

I was shopping for a second car ( see the last thing I bought thread) and I couldn't believe how much Carvana wanted for used cars. I guess there is money to be made in the Covid buying environment. There is another outfit called Shift that does pretty much the same thing. The new car, computer chip, shortage may have something to do with it also. I ended up going to a private seller and paid about $7000 less for the same car being sold by a side the road dealership. Mine had 83,xxx miles and the other had 57,xxx miles, but I had a pre-sale inspection done and I'm happy with the car.

Vehicles, both used and new, are actually very hard to come by at the moment. I actually had the dealer I bought my truck from two years ago brand new call me out of the blue and ask if I wanted to sell it back for over blue book because they had someone needing one similar. I thought about it but I couldn't get another new truck to replace it and used trucks are hard to come by that don't have a ton of miles on them or have issues. My dad ordered a new truck last November and just got it last month.

Huge microchip shortage is causing massive shortfalls in new vehicles so everyone is buying up used ones if they have to. Ford and Chevy both have lots full of completely built brand new vehicles that are simply missing the microchips so they can't function.

So in other words, if you decide to sell make sure you have an option to replace it first that you are comfortable with.

I just bought a car on Carvana - very smooth transaction. There was a small crack in the windshield and they had the windshield completely replaced 48 hours later.

The used car market is nuts right now. Something about the computer chip factory that burned down overseas. Good time to be a seller for a used car.

Thanks to this thread I checked out Carvana and ended up selling them my wifes 2016 Ford Fiesta that I hated. They gave her 11k for it. I couldn't believe it. I remember checking kbb a couple years ago and it had a value of 4k lol.
