It’s being reported ex rams staffer Liam Coen is the next Jags head coach. So right now Mcvay’s tree includes Lefleur, O’Connell, Taylor and now Coen. Not to shabby.

Raheem's iffy, since he was a head coach before.
But Staley should be included.

If I’m McVay this is one of my proudest achievements. What an eye for great football minds.
I mean I know I’m stating the obvious here but I think McVay would absolutely crush it as an NFL GM. Just like his grandpa did with the Niners. Could see him following a similar path if he choose to.

However, if he was GM, he would see the Coach's decisions and probably go - why the fuck did he do that. :laugh1:

I would have done that if I was coach.

I don’t see why that matters, what he learned from McVay in his 3 years can be the difference in his success as a HC
I’m sure he did, but coaching trees are usually defined by coaches that are moving up. Not established coaches.

The most important thing any coach learns, is that they need an excellent QB

Really? I never knew there was an official definition of a coaching tree. I would think that Spagnolo would be off of Andy Reid’s tree if he got another HC job.
I know Nick Saban is credited with Sarkisian, Kiffin, Jimbo Fisher etc etc though they were Head coaches elsewhere.

When I think of coaching trees, I think of coaches that came up through the system of a HC.
Not guys that have already been established.

I wouldn’t consider Phillips part of McVays coaching tree. But he was a DC for McVay.
Same for Morris.

Well Phillips retired from the NFL so I’m not sure how that would relate
Strange reasoning but to each their own.
If McVays leadership is what helped Morris get his current gig, that would be why he’s belongs on his tree
