Robinson looks spent. He doesn’t look like the same guy I remember watching highlights of when he played for Chicago. For example, his goal line slant against the Cowboys looked like it was Josh Renyolds out there.

Van Jefferson is out, but should be back after the bye as far as I know.

Sko has come on and established himself as a mainstay of the short passing game (he can’t track a deep ball). His role versatility allows McVay to mix up the scheme while maintaining his beloved 11 personnel.

Tutu is starting to carve out a role as DJax-lite, based on his 9 plays and 2 targets against Dallas.

So, after the bye, it’s bye-bye Robinson as a full-time starter. At that point he'll just be on the team to give guys a blow (a rest, not the sexual thing non of us get enough of).

The only way this does not happen is if he has a breakout game against Carolina. And I don't see that happening.

Okay boys, tell me where my logic is flawed?

P.S. This is NOT a hindsight is 20-fucking-20 post. There is another post for that, so please mods and posters, allow the conversation to move forward.

Good post and not unreasonable if you have to produce to be a starter

I say we give him more time and and hope we get better play from our OL

It was a risk to trade Bobby Trees and he will go down as one of the most unappreciated players on a great team

The offense is out of synch but Robinson is still a disappointment. With his size and frame - supposed ability to make all the cuts and run any routes at his size - it’s a mystery to me why he is not more involved in the short to intermediate routes? He can run a slant and box out a safety right?

In fairness, Josh Reynolds is way out performing Robinson at this point.
Robinson isn't shot or washed up.
I just don't think he is being used correctly. He is a down field, physical receiver. He has never been a burner. I think using him in that Woods role is miscasting what he does well.
I think when Jefferson comes back it make allow Robinson to be used more to his strengths.
If the Rams don't adjust how he is being used it is just a dumb and wasted signing and a bad trade.
IF this move was a GM/Coach playing "fantasy football" and just getting a name player because they traded Woods and found out about Jeffersons knee issue, well, they are wasting money.
McVay is showing little Martzian tendencies this year. Sticking is the obviously worse of the two RBs....his use of Robinson. Refusing to run the ball when the OL can't pass protect. Very frustrating.
I would love for a reporter to really ask him these questions, in a real way, with stats and video of Akers missing hole after hole.
I doubt you could get a real answer out of any coach.....let alone McVay. Sure, we would hear a lot about "opps" and "situational awareness" and "good urgency" and any of the other McVay catch phrases we get all the time (I do enjoy actually), but, I doubt he'd actually answer the question.
That said, McVay is also a guy, as we saw last year, that can rally his team and go on a run.
Get the OL mostly back, Jefferson back, Odell back and I could see this team going on a winning streak.
Have to get to the bye 3-3 and have a few surprised for SF however.....lets get Tutu the ball in space.
Tutu has only been hit once on a deep ball, but, he has run past every defender that has been on him.
Rams need to mix in some deep action to Tutu....on a second and short (I hear some teams get this situation a lot.....Ive forgotten what second and short look like) or on a first down......line Tutu up in the back field or in motion to run a wheel route. Create mismatches for him. Of course, that requires the OL to give Stafford time.

I'll agree with the OP that Allen Robinson does not look good, but there is no reason to sit him right now. The only receiver worth his contract at the moment is Cooper Kupp and that's probably because Stafford is under so much pressure that he only looks to Kupp and sometimes Higbee. I don't think Robinson forgot how to play. And he's only received 23 targets and 12 receptions out of 300+ plays. Tough to keep your head in the game when you are just a decoy. JMO.

He only gets one more start as a starter? Is that an order?

He had no time to build chemistry with Stafford in the summer, now Stafford is running for his life on every play, and you expect things to just click.

I've been watching him on the field. He is lost. He doesn't seem to even know where the first down line is. After the play he is just standing there looking totally clueless. I'm sure Stafford's had it with him.

Not so sure about the Sko can't track the deep ball narrative. Is there anything to that other than the 1 play in the endzone? Did I miss a bunch of other plays where he didn't track a deep ball well? Honestly asking, because I only remember the 1 play.

You don't pay him what we paid him then give up on him five weeks into the season.

I get the frustration. But hardcore fans like us should be able to comprehend the impact of shit OL play, no preseason, the difficulty of this offense, the QB starting slow, the quality of defenses we have played, and the lack of speed on offense.

We could say that Robinson is part of that lack of speed equation but the guy has been open plenty. Just as important has been the lack of threat by the WR3 who is out there, the third threat. McVay finds himself playing with a different set of tools this year and he's going to figure shit out. Robinson has worked his ass off from camp on trying to master the offense and he may take a little more time.

So if you want to give up on him I understand that but I think we have bigger fish to fry. Like the run game or lack thereof. Get that fixed and you might see some shit. This is a truth of McVay's offense and the WCO in general. It doesn't look so hot without a functioning run game.

Tutu is DJAX lite? He has one catch in the NFL over the last couple of seasons. He caught a single nice pass last week. He's got one helluva long way to go to become DJAX lite.

Yes, just not as glaringly obvious. He hasn't been deployed downfield since his converted role.

True. The post is more directed at trying to get some offensive production, even if his usage is just a distraction to keep the Safeties deep.

I do think it's time to mix McClutcheon in. Kupp / Robinson / McClutch is one big and physically imposing WR group. Yeah they're not fast. So what.

Ever since Gurley's rapid decline our running game has been well below average and who do we draft with our top pick one year? A diminutive wr.

We can't run the ball much at all during our Super Bowl run and who is our big money free agent addition? A WR who was franchised the previous year, and responded with 1 TD catch all that season. After that performance there was no attempt to re-sign that WR by the passing powerhouse, and WR blessed, Chicago Bears.

McVay showed when he first came on board he knew what was need to win football games (jettison chronic screwups and underperformers while signing proven real pro's like Stafford, Whit, Woods, and Ramsey).

If we need a year to reload so be it.

I honestly don't remember any other plays where I thought Sko didn't track the ball well.

Week 1 Sko ran a deep post and Stafford through it to him. But Sko looked like he was lost and just sort of trailed off the post looking dazed and confused. I don't have the all-22 to screen capture it for you but if you have it check it out.

If looking lost was a reason for benching guys, Cooper Kupp would be the only person taking the field on offense.

Coop and Stafford went to management and requested this guy now coop is just opposite him but Stafford knew he would be throwing to him wanted to throw to him and I'm sure they themselves watched footage of him for them to ask for ARob.
Could he be washed yes but realistically can he have lost everything and I mean everything on like 5 months. Common sense says no. Something is off his usuage or maybe he is just disgruntled.....or just fat and happy to be home and no winners mentality there has to be more.

You can't just lose every skill you have in 5 months

He was never fast, and that's the problem. The Rams have no speed at receiver other than atwell, who doesn't play much as we know.
