I would love to see what that Dr. that was claiming Akers coming back wouldn't make a difference because there is no way he would be ready has to say now. He looked like the most explosive player on the field tonight. It's unbelievable.

Never seen anything like his recovery. Truly remarkable. He takes this offense to a new level. Sony is a good RB, but Akers is elite. There's a clear difference watching them both run.

Akers looked like an elite NFL RB with fresh legs in mid- January.

I love Cam Akers game. Absolutely love his skillset and have felt that he's a not-so-secret secret weapon. Like his combination of vision and explosive burst with short yard power... I believed he was the league's best RB at the end of last season and based on his performance tonight, he is still that same Cam Akers...

It's too bad Ernest Jones isn't out there too

I agree. When we went back to Sony it looked like he was running in slow motion. Akers is just a whole nother level

As much as I love the nifty, nifty feet of Michel, there's no question that Akers effect on the passing game is substantial.

Those wheel routes are being used to devastating effect.

I said when we drafted Akers that he's the closest to Faulk that we've had since Faulk. Gurley was very good in the passing game, but Akers is a really exceptional route runner for a RB and that's not slam against Gurley.

Plus, the duo of Akers and Michel is wonderful. They don't look too different in pads, but Michel is a heavier runner and Akers is quicker, but it's got to be awful hard to deal with them both... not exactly a Thunder and Lightning situation, but they definitely compliment each other's running styles.

Sony has power but lacks top end speed. Hendo has speed but doesn't consistently provide that power "push."

Akers has both. Love those slight little shifty moves he can make mid-run.

To my eye, Akers looked like the best runner the Rams have had all year. Here's hoping he's our secret weapon that takes this offense to the next level.

Yeah prior to this game I was thinking Michel getting carries to soften them up was crucial. But Akers just fucking straight retook his job. And Michel is a bad ass RB2.

It was beautiful. Tampa game is gonna be physical boy.

Akers didn't just take a few handoffs... he was a complete back. It's like he's been in the offense the entire season.

It was called back.. but there was a dump pass to him where he made the LB completely whiff.. which we've seen before. That element has been missing all season and will punish the fuck outta other teams. Seriously.. brings a whole new dimension to the pass game.

Goddamn he looked good!!!!!!!

Elite RBs make tacklers miss in space, and that play was the clear example that Akers is all the way back. Went back and watched the highlights and he was great in pass pro too. Michel and Hendo can't make people miss like that. But really his power was so evident. He fell forward on almost every run and was punishing tacklers. There were three or four carries where he lowered his shoulder and delivered the blow, and not just on the Baker play where he was injured. Sony is physical, but Akers offers a different level of explosive speed and power. Honestly I'm still in shock he looked that good today.

I am too.

Took one week for him to completely re-establish himself. I mean.. I'm like.. goddamn! I was worried about NEXT YEAR and whether he'd be good enough then!!

Holy shit.

Yeah I don't think I have seen him run that angry. After that collision with Baker I think guys know he isn't messing around. He looks like a man on a mission.

akers will have 10 catches. no need to run into a brick wall. that will be sony's job.

The kid's tough as nails.
I think he has surprised everyone, but probably nnot himself.
It's great to have him and Michel going to Tampa.

What surprised me was how much Mcvay used him. He is a special player.Against the 9ers Mcvay gave him some tough Reps.
Sony has never had the explosive that Cam Akers has. Then Gerald Henderson is still a good RB.The Rams run game has a excellent future even without Sony Michael.
Funk got a carry which I liked on 3rd & 20 from Whitworth’s holding call. Cam Akers almost had a big time catch as well. His speed is what is amazing.
How does a kid make a run down the sidelines out of bounds & still runs 20 yards at such a high Speed ?
Reminded me of George Kittles 40 yard dash. Unbelievable.

Definitely proved me wrong. This is an Adrian Peterson-like recovery time.

I hope Mcvay heavily uses Cam in the pass game.Especially on dump offs over the middle. The dude is trouble.

I don’t envision him running up the middle on Tampa but let’s get him to the edge and get him in space in the pass game.

Cam and OBJ emerging at the same time can take this offense to the next level.

I do wonder if the achillies injury wasn't as severe as advertised, like it was a bad partial tear but not a full tear. I seem to recall seeing that reported somewhere, but can't remember where.
Regardless, this recovery is amazing. We have players on this team who's work ethic is inspiring.

It was a full tear. Jourdan Rodrigue wrote a feature about it and his innovative surgery and recovery.
