I'm not nearly as worried about the play calling...
Thoughts I came away with:
-Shaun Hill is more than capable of running this offense, and proved he can get the ball down the field.
-Some players look confused on their assignments - there was a screen on 3rd and 20 where both tavon austin and barksdale run right past a guy and let him make the play on givens.
-Tavon Austin out of the backfield is a bit risky but it did look to catch minny off guard...the problem wasn't the play call......it was:
-Devin Joseph..He is a big, big time liability. Hills fumble right before the pick? Josephs guy.. I don't think I need to go over how bad he was as no name guys like Tom Johnson beats him for a sack.. he struggled both in pass and run, including one of the failed runs to tavon.. This is a serious issue - why? Look who he lines up from across next week: Gerald Mccoy. Joseph had his ass handed to him consistently, and not just by shariff floyd either..now he gets a true stud next week..
Here's a play that ended up as a incomplete Deep To Quick - but Hill has pressure quickly..you can see how fast the pressure is by where the recievers are
The biggest issues for our offensive failures, imo, were shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties, play execution, and very poor line play..And for some reason, there looked like a considerable drop off from the first quarter to the 2nd quarter.
