Didn't think it would hurt to send out this little reminder...

The 1999 Rams were the greatest team ever in sports. Not just football, not just the NFL, but of all of sports.

The storylines from preseason till the Super Bowl were never ending. One after another. Everything from acquiring Trent Green, Faulk, the draft picks like Holt, the devastating preseason injury to Green and emergence of Kurt Warner, beating the crap out of Baltimore week one after going 4-12 the previous season. Kicking the shit out of the 49ers in week 5 breaking a 17 game losing steak to them. Scoring a bomb of a touchdown on the very first offensive play in the Minnesota playoff, and the bomb at the end of the game to Bruce to win the Super Bowl. And, Vermeil...crying his way through the entire season. Just great stuff everywhere.

There was nothing like this team, and never will be again.

Still have doubts? Watch this clip of the GSOT and your doubts will disappear. I love every Rams team, but this one and this 1999 season was like no other, and never will be again either.

Peace. Out. Catch you guys later!

I truly believe this was the impetus for the NFL making so many rule changes to favor the offense and create more scoring. They saw this and it was exciting AF. They wanted to make it the norm.

But that also reminds you of the greatness of this offense - they did it before the NFL made all of these rule changes.

The destruction of the 49r's around the 12-15 minute mark, was awesome!!! :woozy2:

That's my favorite regular season game of all time, even over the barnburner against the Chiefs in 2018. That game changed two franchises that day, because it was the springboard for the Rams to go out and win it all - you knew for sure they were for real after that. And it sent the 49ers season into a tailspin and knocked off that swagger they had carried for most of the 80's and 90's, and which they've never really recovered even when they've had good teams.

And yet the 2001 team was better... A Damn shame.

99 and 21 Rams BOTH great teams.

That 1999 team was special, no doubt. It all came together. Love that they swept the damn whiners and the GSOT continued that for another 2 years until the wheels fell off in 2002.

Facts.

That season was a true Cinderella Story.

The first few weeks, I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
The ‘95 season (maybe ‘94), when we started 5-0 was still fresh on my mind.
Once we defeated those prick 49rs, I knew we were the real deal.

For the Super Bowl, we went to a bar down in Yorba Lynda. Which is just east of Anaheim.
It was electric.

But after us were two very strong defensive teams winning the Super Bowl....Buccaneers (Tampa 2) and the Ravens with Ray Lewis.

I'm worn out re-living the '99 season.

The '21 season had its own fairy tale ending. Who would have thought that an HC and his GM would have the balls to trade a good QB and unload a massive contract plus 1st round picks for a guy who was famous for stats and zero playoff wins? They saw Stafford as the guy who would lead that team through four playoff wins, three of which were dramatic comeback victories resulting in a Lombardi. That has NEVER happened for a Rams team and few other teams for that matter. It all happened in the "ecosystem" that hoped the team would fail due to its aggressive moves which were made to create the team. I think Stafford "The Soul Snatcher" is the best QB the Rams have had in the Super Bowl era, followed by Kurt Warner

I was pretty sure we were a really good team after the Cinncinati game.

It is east of Fullerton which is north of Anaheim - get it right

Side note - I went to Cal State Fullerton

Both great seasons, right? However, 1999 > 2021.

I don't believe you're "worn out" on the 1999 season. You be trippin!

I totally agree. That 9er game in 1999 was about 8 years in the making, and so, so satisfying!

Entering the '99 season, the Rams were tied with the Bengals for most losses in the decade.....

True, but neither was anywhere near as exciting as the GSOT. Not even close. And the NFL knew it.

Even in '99, we barely got past two excellent defenses in the Buccs and the Titans, but then you prolly forgot that because you were still suffering from the Bends in '99 and not thinking clearly!
