Have tremendous appreciation for what Whitworth has done for the Rams over the past three seasons, and he seems like a great person.
Just want to throw out a terrific player from the 1970s. Doug France. First round draft choice. Sat behind long time starting LT Charlie Cowan for one season and then took over.
France was outstanding from day one, and on his way to a great career but shoulder injuries slowed him down. Still started for six seasons (all playoff seasons) with several Pro Bowl years.
Had problems post-playing career and past away a couple years ago.
