I don't see Trost as an OT at this level. Really think he's going to slide into the guard depth chart. In fact I figure he's going to replace Avila. If the Rams agree, then putting him on the IR makes sense. Stash him to start off the season as the OG depth looks solid.
Reference the above......

I have tried to keep on TC info but I must have missed any Ram On Demand posting on the details of the practicing OL'ers.

What OL positions were the Ram coaches working Trost/ Arcuri/ Murray/ Limmer / Henderson/ Bowles /Blaske & McMahon?

I did see where @bubbaramfan posted that Keagen Trost was working some on the 2nd team @ LT.

I have no idea what's going on with the OL this year. The camp reports have been a bit scarce, folks are busy.

But then again the only real concern I have with the OL room is backup LT. It would also be nice to have a young Center who projects to take over for Shelton, but he's strong on calls and with good OGs on either side he can be protected. And we do have good OGs.

Speaking of the OGs I suspect Avila will have a great season, as he's gonna be putting up that film for FA. But I don't think the Rams will sign both him and Dotson. Figure one of them gets signed, that one being Dotson.

The other OL pending FA who I figure will be signed is McClendon. Simply because if we lose him in FA shit looks rough at OT. So only way they let him escape is if he plays poorly as a starter this season.

Honestly I have no idea what Quessenberry would look like if he has to start. Congrats on being cancer free and all that, but LT is rough at this level. Feels to me like Jackson and Stafford are the two on offense we must have healthy to contend.

How do you think this statement jives with where the Rams have been practicing him and where they list him on the depth chart.
Just my evaluation of him. His arms are questionable length. He's not rangy in his build, a bit squatty for OT in the NFL. And his strengths should port nicely to LG for us. So I expect him to end up there.

Where the Rams practiced him in the small sample size window before he got hurt isn't really any sort of indicator. Of course they're gonna at least try him at LT, as he was drafted with the hope he'd be able to do it. It's real common for OTs to move inside at the NFL level because the edges face much stronger pass rushing acumen, both sides as well btw. We'll see how it turns out.

I did fail to mention Trost but for me he is now a non-factor at LT with his injury. As far as allocating resources to LT, which was more the focus of my post, he has always been more associated with RT. Even when he was in the conversation, he was considered more RT depth. They also had him playing RT, not LT in the game.

Regarding Acuri, he gets little to no mention as a real option for backup left tackle. Evey time he is mentioned, the expectation by most here seems to be panic at the mention of him actually starting a game at LT. Most consider him to be a PS player at best. I personally am still intrigued by him and even more so by the fact that he did not play against the Chiefs. Hopefully his developmental arc is akin to McClendon’s. What did you see from Acuri when you attended camp?

Also when Havenstein was on BLEV he talked about LT depth a little and he compelty faileld to mention Arcuri.

I think your on the right path.I don’t think the LT is that big of an issue right now.Plus Alaric is signed for another season.AJ Arcuri is your average backup.I remember him in 1 on 1 drills his rookie season with Bruss & another O”Lineman & he had the best balance.
As far as training camp it was hard to see the LT.They usually ran the offense from East to West ? Meaning on the other side. From what I saw the LT didn’t have much of an issue. Then again I do think it was him going against Myles Garrett & who is going to stop him.
Myles has an inside move that is Unstoppable.Didn’t see him getting off the Edge.
David Quess should be fine early if Alaric Jackson is suspended ? He has experience and has another season of knowing the offense.
—Bonyify”d usually has good takes on The O”Line & AJ looks like he will make the roster ??? From looking at photos from OTA’s he keeps putting in The Work

Yes, the Redshirt is probably best for Ty, but if he does beat out Stetson he must be leap-frogged to QB2 even if not in his best interest. Of course Jimmy G could then be brought in at some point if Staff did go down for a period, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Simpson might be just fine if thrown into emergency action for a game or two.
I guess I’m just not high on bringing in JG. He hasn’t played a meaningful game in how many years and was pretty meh in the game he did play for us. He’s also an injury waiting to happen. I really think QB2 is Stetson’s to lose as they want to keep Ty in learning mode. If Stetson doesn’t step up, I could easily see Simpson getting extra attention and primed for QB2 in case of injury.

I just love all of our "problems." We literally have too much talent to sign everyone. Pinch me. I, like many of you, spent many years (decades, if honest) watching preseason games of other teams to identify guys that I might like the Rams to sign when they were waived. Now, our F.O. is faced with how to allocate money to players who rightfully deserve contract extensions....and we have so damn many of them we won't be able to sign them all!
Recent posts in this thread reference the 4 OL that fall into that category. What hasn't been mentioned is the defensive side of the ball (BY, Fiske, Kobe to start) or O guys like Puka. So damn much talent!
Since Sean joined Les, I've learned to stop fretting. They've proven to me that they will get it right far more often than not. The Rams F.O. (including many more than those two) are a machine. They'll figure out who to pay (Avilla vs. Dotson, Kobe/Fiske/BY) and have a plan for those they don't (i.e. calculated comp picks).
It's just a damn sweet time to be a Ram fan, regardless of what AD decides.
I just find myself excited for THIS year (think: be grounded/live in the present and let the trusted F.O. figure out the future)!

Murchison is still a JAG. He's like the Noteboom of the DL. Why do the Rams still employ him?? He's like a 3 year vet and did nothing against Chiefs backups. If other DL's can't beat him out it shows how sorry they are.
