2022 Rams Draft Board

Here is my first stab at a draft board.

Its obviously extremely difficult to project who will last until the end of the third round. That said, this is my list of 15 prospects I feel would (1) be a very good fit, (2) would fill a current position of need, and (3) have a reasonable chance of being available when the Rams pick.

I like what you did here @AvengerRam you have two Kentucky Wildcats on the draft board and I would not be shocked if the Rams also look for others too because of the Coen Connection. I expect Brain Robinson to be drafted earlier then most think because I believe he will be a New York Giant again due to the fact that their new Head Coach Brain Daboll coached him at Alabama, but I truly believe he'd be a perfect fit in Los Angeles.

I do believe they might be looking tackle too and another at Kentucky could be Drew Rosenthal plus Cade Mays from Tennessee & a LB that screams Rams to me is Micah McFadden from Indiana. Again I do believe the Rams will draft a punter, but many teams IMO are looking towards the draft for punter for example the Cowboys & Packers just to post a few, but I'm interested who the Rams like as IMO, Jordan Stout IMO, seems to have the type of punting the Rams like, but I also believe Colorado State's Ryan Stonehouse could be in play, if for no other reason, he looks like a young Johnny Hekker.

I've updated my board.

Due to the signing of Bobby Wagner, ILB is no longer a priority, so I've dropped Chad Muma (who probably will be taken long before the Rams pick anyway) and Leo Chenal.

I've also expanded my board from 15 to 20 players.

Rams only have 2 pressing roster needs with NFL draft approaching

With the Rams' additions in free agency, they've left themselves with only two pressing roster needs ahead of the draft.

When the offseason began, it was easy to be worried about all of the Los Angeles Rams’ pending free agents and the roster holes they might create by leaving. Couple that with Andrew Whitworth’s likely retirement and it was looking like it’d be a rough spring for the Rams.

But with the moves they’ve made and the players they’ve brought back, the Rams are in good shape heading into the draft. They re-signed Joe Noteboom to play left tackle, signed Allen Robinson to help replace Odell Beckham Jr. – and Robert Woods, evidently – and added Bobby Wagner to step in at inside linebacker.

The Rams also re-signed Brian Allen and Coleman Shelton, retaining their starting center and a player who could potentially be their starting right guard. Shelton won’t be handed the job despite getting a two-year deal, and he’ll have to compete with Bobby Evans, Tremayne Anchrum and whoever the team might draft.

Looking at the Rams’ depth chart, they really only have two pressing needs: outside linebacker and cornerback.

Those two holes were created by the departures of Von Miller, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Darious Williams in free agency. Miller and Williams were the biggest losses, signing sizable contracts with the Bills and Jaguars, respectively. They still have Justin Hollins, Terrell Lewis and Chris Garrett at outside linebacker, and David Long Jr. and Robert Rochell to help at cornerback, but depth is needed at both spots.

The Rams aren’t going to reach for an edge rusher or cornerback with their first two picks, but if a quality player at one of those positions falls to them at No. 104, you can bet they’ll be tempted to draft him – if Sean McVay can resist the urge to draft another wide receiver or running back with his first pick.

Other positions of lesser need heading into the draft are tight end, guard, defensive line and potentially safety. The Rams should be set at wide receiver, running back, tackle and center early in the draft. That’s not to say they shouldn’t draft anyone at those positions, but it doesn’t need to be early on.

Defensively, there’s no need to bring in another inside linebacker after drafting Ernest Jones last year and signing Wagner this offseason. Prior to adding Wagner, inside linebacker looked like it’d be a key position to address.

It hasn’t been the most eventful offseason when it comes to roster additions, but the Rams have made calculated moves to ensure they don’t necessarily have to reach for a single position early in the draft.

While I know I'm in the minority here, I consider RG more of a current 'need' position than at Edge OLB. Coleman Shelton is a completely worthy reserve Center, I can also see him possibly starting at LG, but I have trouble picturing his 299lb. body holding up as a starting run blocker on the right side. If we wish for better results out of our RB's, get them a road grading RG and a blocking TE/FB type.
After filling the RG role, CB is the next most important free agency/draft position to add depth to during the pre-season, then I'd say Edge, FS, RB, and a blocking specialist at TE.
Just my opinion.

I’ve been re-watching game hilights from last season and had Higbee been available the last 2 post season games… 4th qtr heroics would not have been necessary.

He’s pretty good. I understand the injury concern, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to put him out to pasture just yet. Let’s draft and develop somebody for a season or 2 first.

We have bigger power types (Akers at his best, Michel if he’s signed). Henderson is in the last year of his contract, and we don’t have a speedy back behind him.

Badie fits, and he’s the best receiving back in the draft.
