12 games:
Jared Goff- 3184 yards, 20 TD's, and 6 INTS.

16 game projection:
Jared Goff- 4245 yards, 27 TD's, 8 INTS

*Before the season I was, I was calling for 4500 yards, 25 TDs, 12 INTS from Goff. My other name is Ramstrodamus!

Yeah ‘damos if he ends up with 12 picks, it’s all on you!

I was hoping for 4,000 yards and 2 to 1 TD to Int.

I mean, my best case scenario was Goff going 3700 yards and 20 TDS with 18 INT. And I emphasis BEST CASE. I had a sneaking fear that the TDS and INT numbers would be reversed or worse.

I was totally unequivocally wrong on him. He looks like a completely different QB this year. Kudos to him. Kudos to McVay.

I've never been happier to be so wrong.

Tom Brady first 6 NFL seasons average:

24 TD
13 int
61.9 %
3593 yards

Jared Goff 2017 projection
27 TD
8 int
61.8
4245 yards
What are you saying?

I don’t know about you but I think this Goff is a bust!

The low INTs are the key. I was hoping he'd be 2:1 ratio and somewhere 20 TD to 10 INT, but he's better than 3:1 and taking good care of the football.

Just keep playing smart, getting through reads, seeing what they're doing and executing the scheme. That's what advances your team in the playoffs, and it's why Brady showed a penchant for winning tight games in that environment.

Those are great stats indeed. What I haven't seen Goff do yet, and what I feel is a factor to be great at QB is an ability to have game winning drives under pressure.
We are great at managing games and maintaining the lead, but the only 3 times we entered the 4th quarter without having the lead, we have lost the game (I just checked). That's usually on the QB to lead the team to a win late in the game, that's what made Seattle so successful in recent years (let alone Brady and the Pats), and we haven't seen that yet from Goff.

Not saying it won't happen, but we haven't seen it yet (almost saw it against Seattle, but did not)

.

man, how impressive were some of the throws by goff today. nothing flashy requiring super human strength or shedding tacklers off him. just throwing the ball from different angles to thread the needle to make a completion. loved it. this guy can play ball.

His pocket awareness (apart from the INT that was unfortunate that it hit the guy in the hands, and that it stuck) also impressed me. At the start of the season he was getting grief for stepping backwards, but he is moving up into the pocket when he needs to and doing a fair bit of juking and faking to buy himself the time to get the throw off, and mostly getting good throws off under pressure.

This topic is worth it's own thread.

Goff throws away a couple of passes to several passes a game. He won't make a dumb throw and risk losing possession. While it lowers his completion percentage a little, and he may be passing up on a potential play that does gain some yards, he simply doesn't take a bad risk. That's not to say he won't take a risk, he will and we've seen that. But he isn't making the "what the fuck are you doing" passes. He's not giving us a reason to yell at the TV lol.

He's playing like a vet in his prime when it comes to smart QB play.

Redskins game. Goff won it, but Kupp dropped it. It was an impressive drive under pressure with little time.

As shovelpass said, I guess you are talking about the Seahawks game. I get your point and you are right, he had a great last min drive, but in the end, he did not win the game. Sure Kupp is partly to blame, but part of my point was that great QBs actually make it happen.
Again, I am not saying Goff won't be able to in the future.

He did make it happen. And it was the Hawks game. He took them right down the field against one of the best defenses in the league and delivered the perfect pass in under a minute.

4000 yards !

It is crazy that this has become the norm in the leauge .

Keep it jared ! You have destroyed my expectations for this season.
